Recent Projects

Statewide Initiatives

  • IEA’s Center for Economic Development Education offers career development courses to community leaders across the state to enhance knowledge in the field of economic development. Data collection is a key on-going activity in evaluating course offerings and assessing future training needs. (Statewide Survey of Arkansas Economic Developers 2003)
  • Economic Impact of Volunteerism in Arkansas is an annual survey to measure volunteerism in the state. The survey results offer insights into volunteer hours worked from a roster of organizations and agencies that include state agencies/organizations, cities, counties, Civic clubs/volunteer organizations, faith based and community organizations, corporations, private colleges and universities, hospitals, public school districts, private/parochial schools, libraries, veterans groups, national service groups, senior organizations, youth organizations, and united ways. Community-based initiatives

  • City of Hot Springs citizen survey to assess residents’ satisfaction with select city services and various other topical issues.
  • City of Fort Smith citizen survey to assess residents’ satisfaction with select city services and various other topical issues.
  • City of Hope citizen survey to assess residents’ interest in establishing a community center.
  • River Valley Tobacco Free Coalition (Sebastian County) is comprised of individuals, businesses, and organizations who support reducing tobacco use in Sebastian County, Arkansas. A series of surveys were designed to obtain input from the community to determine opinions, attitudes, and policies related to tobacco use.

Special population-based initiatives

  • Elderly population — Research is being conducted in cooperation with Senior Specialists Agency on Aging of West Central Arkansas to assess the FAST (facilitating access through senior technology) pilot program activities targeted for five Arkansas counties (Clark, Garland, Hot Spring, Montgomery, and Pike).
