Getting Ready for School
Getting
Ready for School was developed by UALR's Children's Research in
cooperation with the Arkansas
School Readiness Team and the Arkansas
Department of Human Services, Division
of Child Care and Early Childhood Education. The continuing
series for the state of Arkansas and the 75 counties is a
comprehensive examination in tabular and graphic format under the
broad categories of Children, Families, Schools, and Communities.
Arkansas is one of 17 states to participate in The
School Readiness Indicators Initiative to develop a
comprehensive set of school readiness indicators to inform public
policy for young children and their families. This initiative is
sponsored by the David and Lucile
Packard Foundation, the Ewing
Marion Kauffman Foundation and the Ford
Foundation.
Getting Ready for School,
Arkansas 2007 presents a series
of indicators that influence a child's ability to succeed in school.
It is a compilation of data designed to provide reliable measures
with which to guide state's families, legislative leaders,
educators, and communities in creating the best path to ensure our
children are ready to learn. Both state and county reports are
available.
