* There were two Miller counties. The present one was created in 1875 from part of Lafayette county. The original one stridled the Red River with part in Indian Territory (Oklahoma) and part that is now Texas.
Notes: (1) In 1810 there were no counties. (2) The following counties were created in the 1860's: Boone, Cross, Grant,Little River, Sharp, and Cross. (3) The following counties were created in the 1870's: Baxter, Clay, Dorsey, Faulkner, Garland, Howard, Lee, Lincoln, Logan, Lonoke, Miller, Nevada, and Stone.
