Summit for the Little Rock Metro Region
On December 6, 2010 leaders from the private and public sectors met in North Little Rock at a Summit that was sponsored by the Central Arkansas Planning and development District, the Institute for Economic Advancement, the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Metroplan. The Summit focused on the metro area’s regional community and sought to determine whether a regional private-public approach is a viable means for addressing region-wide challenges. Participants were addressed by Dr. Joel Anderson, Chancellor of UALR, Jim Youngquist, Director of IEA, Ron Littlefield, Mayor of Chattanooga, and Governor Mike Beebe. Participants were also led through a facilitated work session in which they affirmed the viability of a regional private-public approach for addressing region-wide challenges, identified and prioritized the regional challenges, and offered some thoughts about how to proceed toward establishing a regional private-public effort to work for the betterment of the region. The Facilitator’s Notes presents a concise summary of what was accomplished that day. (The Notes are also available on the Webpages of the other sponsoring organizations.)
